A symbol of the city, the Royal Castle (like much of historic Warsaw) was completely destroyed in World War II, and has been completely reconstructed under the original plans since. Within the extraordinary architecture, you can see exhibitions of history, the people who lived in this commanding residence - and beautiful Old Master paintings. As it's Wednesday, see it for free from 10am to 6pm.
